Crossroads Catches Compliant Retailers – “Recognizing Distributors of Excellence”
MENTOR, OH (May 22, 2017) – Crossroads in conjunction with the Lake County Sheriff’s Department recently performed underage drinking law compliance checks on 188 establishments selling beer, wine and alcohol. The checks were executed by an underage informant who attempts to buy beer or wine. Retailers who do not request identification at the point of purchase to determine legal drinking age and then sell to the underage individual are issued citations. Those that do comply by requesting ID and subsequently refusing to sell are being honored with a letter of recognition and with a “Distributor of Excellence” decal for them to display.
Crossroads’ Director of School and Community-Based Services, Lauren Wright says “We are so thankful that responsible owners and distributors are doing all they can to protect Lake County youth and reduce access to alcohol.”
30 Lake County retailers were found to be non-compliant and cited. Funding for the underage drinking prevention initiative is provided by The Lake County Alcohol and Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services (ADAMHS) Board.
