Crossroads Catches Compliant Retailers

MENTOR, OH (April 20, 2016) – Crossroads in conjunction with the Lake County Sheriff’s Department recently performed underage drinking law compliance checks on 172 establishments selling beer, wine and alcohol. The checks are executed by an individual who appears underage that attempts to buy beer or wine. Retailers who do not request identification at the point of purchase to determine legal drinking age are issued citations. Those that do comply by requesting ID are being honored with a letter of recognition and with a “Distributor of Excellence” decal for them to display.

Crossroads’ Director of School and Community-Based Services, Colette Bukowski says “We wanted to recognize and thank those who are doing all they can to protect Lake County kids and prevent underage drinking.”

Funding for the underage drinking prevention initiative is provided by The Lake County Alcohol and Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services (ADAMHS) Board. 42 Lake county retailers were found to be non-compliant and cited.
